Global or International Education has been my passion throughout my life. I have consulted with schools, districts, and states for more than 20 years on World Language teaching and learning, Dual Language Immersion, Heritage Language Learning and Teaching, and International Education.
Current Work
CMTRL
I am a founding member of the Committee for Multilingual Teaching, Research, and Learning at the University of Washington.

Global Seal of Biliteracy
I am pleased to serve on the Board of Advisors for the Global Seal of Biliteracy. The Global Seal of Biliteracy is a credential that celebrates language skills and expands future opportunities for its recipients. Anyone, not just public high school students has the opportunity to earn the Global Seal by demonstrating language proficiency in two languages (usually English plus one other). I also support the State Seal of Biliteracy initiatives across the United States and in Washington state.
InternationalEdWa
I was a founder of the Washington State Coalition for International Education in 2003 and currently serve on the Steering Committee. http://www.internationaledwa.org/. We are excited to launch support for the Global Competence Certificate for high school students.
SEETAW
In 2018, we founded the Slavic and East European Teachers Association of Washington, dedicated to supporting the teaching and learning of languages from these regions. http://depts.washington.edu/seetaw/
STARTALK
I have been part of the University of Washington STARTALK Team since 2011, supporting summer language programs for Russian Heritage Language high school students and Teacher Programs for a variety of critical languages. In 2017, we supported a student program for Portuguese and Spanish Heritage Language students. https://depts.washington.edu/startalk/
WAFLT
I volunteer with the Washington Association for Language Teaching (WAFLT) in support of World Language Advocacy and WAFLT Language Testing.
